Patient Consent, Cancer Moonshot, and more

NYeC News: Vol 73: AUGUST 25, 2016

Patient consent is a critical element of the Statewide Health Information Network for New York (SHIN-NY), and as of July 2016 over 8.8 million New Yorkers have given consent to participating healthcare providers. The SHIN-NY holds records for over 40 million patients, processes over 2.8 million transactions a month, and has over 62,000 users. HealthlinkNY is working to increase that number with their “Just Say ‘YES’”! campaign. HealthlinkNY is the first RHIO in the state to offer patients downloadable consent forms customized for each of their participating providers.

In this issue of NYeC News, you’ll learn more about Vice President Joe Biden’s Cancer Moonshot Initiative which aims to harness technological and clinical advances to make significant headway in the fight against the disease, and hear about the value and benefits of clinical information exchange from members of the Western New York medical community in HEALTHeLINK’s new Medical Minute.
