NYeC HONORS EXCEPTIONAL LEADERS FOR THEIR WORK TO IMPROVE HEALTHCARE THROUGH INNOVATION
Arthur Ashe Institute for Urban Health’s Dr. Marilyn Fraser, New York City Health + Hospitals’ Dr. Mitchell Katz, Private Equity Investor Glenn H. Hutchins to Be Recognized at 8th Annual NYeC Gala & Awards Ceremony Tonight
NEW YORK, NY – In recognition of their continuing work to improve healthcare for patients through innovation, the New York eHealth Collaborative (NYeC) will honor three healthcare trailblazers on November 20 at the organization’s 8th annual Gala & Awards in New York City.
Hosted by NYeC’s Board of Directors, the awards honor leaders whose extraordinary accomplishments have transformed healthcare and improved patient care and outcomes. The 2019 honorees are Marilyn Fraser, MD, CEO of the Arthur Ashe Institute for Urban Health; Mitchell Katz, MD, President and CEO of New York City Health + Hospitals; and Glenn H. Hutchins, Chairman of North Island and Co-founder of Silver Lake.
“From developing lifesaving behavioral healthcare models, to leading the country’s largest municipal health system, to driving philanthropic funding for research, our three honorees have dedicated themselves to furthering healthcare through innovation and groundbreaking leadership,” said NYeC Executive Director Valerie Grey. “These leaders and their organizations have helped healthcare providers and researchers alike embrace forward-looking models of care that will ensure patients receive the level of care they deserve, for years to come.”

In addition to leading the Arthur Ashe Institute for Urban Health, Dr. Marilyn Fraser is a Research Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine at the SUNY Downstate Medical Center, and co-Director of the Brooklyn Health Disparities Center. With significant experience in community outreach and research programs, Dr. Fraser has led award-winning behavioral health intervention program models. She has also won the prestigious Fulbright Research Specialist Award to develop and implement an internship program for secondary school students in Trinidad and Tobago, in collaboration with the University of the West Indies.
Before joining NYC Health + Hospitals, Dr. Katz focused on integrated care and got more than 350,000 patients primary home care as Director of the Los Angeles County Health Agency, and implemented an integrated electronic health system as Director of the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services. Dr. Katz brought his commitment to transformation to NYC Health + Hospitals—the largest public health system in the country—in 2018, immediately focusing on expanded primary care access, investing in clinical staff, and reducing administrative expenses.
With an accomplished career in private equity including firms North Island and Silver Lake, Glenn Hutchins is a member of NewYork Presbyterian’s Executive Committee, and also served as a special advisor on economic and healthcare policy for the Clinton Administration. He sits on the Federal Reserve Bank of New York board, is Vice Chairman of the Brookings Institution, and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. Mr. Hutchins and his wife Debbie founded the Hutchins Family Foundation and created the Hutchins Center for African & African American Research at Harvard University, the Hutchins Center on Fiscal and Monetary Policy at The Brookings Institution, and the Chronic Fatigue Initiative, which conducts research into the cause of chronic fatigue syndrome.
