Our Gala will once again be a dynamic and festive experience that maximizes attendee engagement and interaction through a Virtual Tables event platform. Through the platform, attendees and sponsors will join their colleagues and peers at private Virtual Tables where they can network and socialize throughout our awards program & ceremony.     Kristin Myers is a visionary leader who is steering IT transformation efforts to align and support the strategic goals of Mount Sinai Health System. As Executive Vice President, Chief Information Officer, and Dean for Information Technology, her main objectives are to drive agility in the department to support the health system’s mission of clinical care, research, and education; optimize the department’s operations; and enable the Health System for digital change.

    Ms. Myers joined the Health System as a Director of IT in 2004. Her many key accomplishments include leadership of the Epic clinical and revenue cycle implementations and the organization’s transition to ICD-10 coding, and establishment of the IT Program Management Office and Change Management as a discipline within IT in 2009.

    Ms. Myers is a nationally acclaimed healthcare leader. She was chosen as one of Crain New York’s Notable in Health Care list in 2021, selected to join the 2021 HIMSS Future50 Community, awarded the Modern Healthcare 2021 Top 25 Women in Healthcare honoree, and listed as 102 Women to Watch in Health IT in 2020. Under Ms. Myers’ leadership, Mount Sinai was awarded the prestigious Health Information and Management System Society (HIMSS) 2012 Enterprise Davies Award of Excellence for its electronic record implementation to improve quality of care and patient safety. Most recently, Mount Sinai Morningside and Mount Sinai West received HIMSS Stage 7, the highest level of technology adoption.

    Before joining Mount Sinai, Ms. Myers worked at Cap Gemini, Ernst and Young, and the Cerner Corporation in Australia. She holds an Executive Master of Public Health from Columbia University and an Executive Chief Information Security Officer certification from Carnegie Mellon. She has been designated a Fellow of HIMSS; has received certifications in Program Management (PgMP), Project Management (PMP, Prince 2), and AIM Change Management; and is a Certified Professional in Health Information and Management Systems.

    Dr. Herbert Pardes is Professor of Psychiatry at Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons and Weill Cornell School of Medicine. He is Executive Vice Chairman of the NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital Board and President of the Brain and Behavior Research Foundation Scientific Council. Nationally recognized for expertise in medical, education, research and clinical care, he is a vigorous advocate of empathic care for patients and technological innovation in medicine.

    He was President and Chief Executive Officer of NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital and Healthcare System from 1999 to 2011, Vice President for Health Sciences and Dean of the College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia from 1989 to 2000.

    He served as Director of the National Institute of Mental Health and U.S. Assistant Surgeon General during the Carter and Reagan Administrations. He has chaired three different departments of psychiatry at Downstate Medical Center, the University of Colorado and Columbia University. He has been President of the American Psychiatric Association and a member of the National Academy of Medicine. He is also a recipient of the Sarnat International Prize for leadership in the field of mental health.

    Dr. Pardes has been an outspoken proponent for academic medicine, medical research, children’s health education, mental health, access to care, humanism and empathy in care delivery, Information Technology and medicine. In 2014, he was given the first Pardes Humanitarian Award in mental health sponsored in part by leaders of the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation (BBRF).

    Dr. Pardes has served on some fifteen editorial boards and as board member and consultant to many not-for-profit organizations and committees. He serves on the NYeC Board Executive Committee for Information Technology, and is Vice Chairman of the New York Genome Center. He is a former Chairman of the Greater New York Hospital Association, the Hospital Association of New York (where he continues to serve on the board), the Association of American Medical Colleges and the New York Association of Medical Schools.

    Dr. Wayne Riley was appointed President of The State University of New York (SUNY) Board of Trustees as the 17th president of SUNY Downstate Medical Center in January of 2017, one of four academic medical centers (AMC) in the SUNY System, and the only SUNY AMC in New York City.

    Before Dr. Riley’s appointment at Downstate, he served as clinical professor of Medicine and adjunct professor of Health Policy at the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. Prior to Vanderbilt, Dr. Riley served as the 10th president, chief executive officer, and professor of Medicine at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee.

    Dr. Riley is an academic primary care general internist with more than 25 years of progressive senior executive level management, policy, and leadership experiences in academic medicine, patient care, research administration, academic health center administration, health care management, health policy, biotechnology, the corporate sector, government service, advocacy, and organized medicine.

    Dr. Riley earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Morehouse School of Medicine, a Bachelor of Arts degree in anthropology with a concentration in Medical Anthropology from Yale University, and a Master of Public Health degree in health systems management from the Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. He also earned a Master’s in Business Administration from Rice University’s Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Business. Dr. Riley completed his residency training in internal medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas where he rose from instructor of medicine to vice president and vice dean for Health Affairs and Governmental Relations. He also held an associate professorship of Internal Medicine.

    Dr. Riley was most recently appointed Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the New York Academy of Medicine, whose mission is to influence and encourage action in urban health focusing seeking health equities in the areas of healthy aging, disease prevention, and the elimination of health disparities. Dr. Riley is the first black board chair the in the organization’s 173-year history.

    Dr. Riley is also immediate past president and president emeritus of the American College of Physicians (ACP). He has served as chair of the prestigious National Academy of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences as an elected member of the Administration of Health Services, Education, and Research, and is recognized as a master of ACP. Dr. Riley also served as a member and secretary treasurer of the Society of Medical Administrators, a member of the American Clinical and Climatological Association, and as a member of the Sullivan Alliance to Diversify the Health Professions.

    In 2019, Dr. Riley was appointed Co-Chair of the SUNY Student Mental Health Task Force which focuses on early interventions and exploring existing practices and public health approaches across the nation to address the mental health needs of SUNY students.

    Dr. Riley is the recipient of numerous awards and honors including election to Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, the Arnold P. Gold Medical Humanism Honor Society, and the Delta Omega Public Health Honor Society. He also received the SUNY Downstate Ailanthous Award for Outstanding Public Health Leadership, a Doctorate of Humane Letters (D.H.L.) honorary degree from SUNY Downstate Medical Center and a Doctorate of Science honorary degree from Tuskegee University.

    A Brooklyn resident, Dr. Riley was appointed in May to the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MEDPAC) a nonpartisan Congressional agency that provides the U.S. Congress with analysis and policy advice on the Medicare program. He also currently serves on the boards of the Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation, the YMCA of Greater New York, New York Academy of Medicine, and the Arnold P. Gold Foundation.

    Cheryl Wills is an Emmy award-winning television personality for Spectrum News’ flagship national news network, New York 1 News, headquartered in New York City. Cheryl Wills has been with NY1 News since its launch in 1992 and is one of the station’s most recognizable journalists for breaking news and special coverage. Cheryl is the only journalist in the network’s 25+ year history to conduct a sit-down interview with The Secretary General of The United Nations: His Excellency Ban Ki-moon. She has also interviewed a sitting President: Nobel Laureate Ellen Johnson Sirleaf of Liberia. Cheryl’s groundbreaking interviews earned her a prestigious Medal of Excellence from The United Nations Correspondents Association (UNCA).

    Cheryl is the acclaimed author of four books about her family’s legacy during The Civil War: Die Free (2010), The Emancipation of Grandpa Sandy Wills (2015), Emancipated: My Family’s Fight for Freedom (2017), EMMA (2020) and Isn’t Her Grace Amazing: 25 Women Who Changed Gospel (2021-Harper Collins).

    On March 25, 2011, Cheryl Wills made history as the first journalist invited to speak at the United Nations General Assembly Hall for The International Remembrance of Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade where she read passages from her book, Die Free which was broadcast live around the world on UNTV. Additionally, Cheryl has also touched the lives of tens of thousands of students across the country by reminding them about the importance of honoring family legacies.

    Cheryl is most proud to be the Commander and Lifetime Descendant Member of the New York Chapter of the Sons and Daughters of the United States Colored Troops – a national organization of Civil War descendants who raise awareness about Black soldiers who served during The Civil War. She is a graduate of the prestigious S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University.
